Construction: A square grid of woven polyester webbing reinforced with glass or carbon fibre rods. Any width or length can be produced based on a nominal 300mm square. The lighter carbon fibre version is intended for use by dedicated rescue craft. The glass fibre version is recommended for emergency use.

A cradle with 10mm carbon fibre rods 1.3 metres wide by 2.9 metres long weighs approximately 5kgs with 15mm glass fibre rods the weight is just under 8kgs. Contains no metal parts.
