This is such a newly developed device that we had to use a prototype for our trials, which was slightly lighter and narrower than the final production model will be.
Once again it has the benefit of a large mesh design, so that water runs out and it is hardly affected at all by the wind when deployed.
As with the Jason's Cradle, it could also be used as a simple scrambling net or ladder if just left dangling over the side, but its real use is to bring the MOB back on board in a horizontal position - and in this it works well. It doesn't have the "curl prevention" that the Jason's has, so the victim does tend to get a little squashed, but again Joe states that this wasn't the worst and, if he relaxed and just let himself be rolled over in the device as it lifted, he arrived at the rail unscathed.
My only criticism is that there was no means of attachment provided. However, on speaking to the manufacturer, they said they were still considering what type to fit it with, because different boats have different requirements. It's not difficult to rig using lines, though, provided you prepare for this well in advance.
